Abstract & Proposal

Andy and Joseph are brothers who only get to see their Grandma once a year during their summer vacations.  Grandma has a big backyard, so Andy and Joseph love to make the best of their time at grandma's by playing their favorite games out in her backyard.  While playing in Grandma’s big backyard, Andy and Joseph enter their own world of action and adventure.

Mission Imagination is a short 3D animated project.  I produced this animation myself with the exception of the audio/sound, and the initial lighting.  The purpose of creating this short film is to display my skills in 3D character animation, and my ability to tell a compelling story visually with clear and strong poses that will read well to my audience effectively.  In doing so, I felt that it was important that I keep the design of the characters and the environment as simple as I could.

This story lies dear to my heart, as it originates from fond memories I have from the time when my brother and I used to play in my grandmother’s backyard during our summer vacations when we would get to see her.  There are many reasons why I chose to pursue this particular topic for my thesis aside from the fact that this story is derived from a fond memory. This story spans out to a wide audience, relating to most individuals who have shared these moments at some point in their lives whether it's with other kin, or friends.

This idea came to me when I was conversing with my professor online from home. Outside, I could hear children outside playing.  I found it quite endearing when I saw them that they were playing the same way my brother and I did when we were so young.
